*dedicated to the Bretas-Kevorkian Duo

Winners of several Brazilian and foreign Piano competitions, Patricia Bretas and Josiane Kevorkian join their talents a Duo, one of the most respected Brazilian Chamber Ensembles. They have excellent partners in Brazilian composers who offered several of their pieces for the Duo which made its debut in 1995. Their artistic ideal is to popularize Brazilian four hand or two piano pieces or pieces from the international repertoire that are rarely played in their country.

Patricia Bretas, a professor at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University, was born in Rio de Janeiro, Josiane Kevorkian was born in Espírito Santo and is the director of culture at Paquetá Arts House. Both of them have gained an enormous amount of experience playing music as a soloists and chamber musicians. Their masters include renowned Brazilian (Maria da Penha, Myriam Dauelsberg, Daisy de Luca) and foreign musicians (Eliane Richepin, Pascal Rogen and Norman Beedie).

As soloists they played at famous international music festivals such as Annecy, Epinal, Nice, Salzburg. As a soloist duo they toured with several symphonic orchestras, such as the Roberto Duarte-led Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra.

In 1997, the Kevorkian-Bretas Duo won first prize at the San Paulo Artlivre Piano Duo Competition and has since been invited to numerous radio and TV recordings.

In addition to Brazil they have appeared in France, Britain, the Czech Republic and Germany. Patricia Bretas has repeatedly visited Hungary, most recently in 2014 she gave a solo recital at Óbudai Társaskör.
