After he graduated from the Music Academy Laszlo Kiss Gy became a member of the Hungarian State Opera orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Currently, he is focussed on popularizing the tárogató. His experience in classical and contemporary music provides a good opportunity to expand the image of tárogatós, elevating it to the level of classical instruments. His inspiration, concerts, and albums created a considerable repertoire. Solo and chamber pieces, concertos have been presented and recorded. For years, he has been playing Pannonian and Transylvanian music with excellent folk musicians. He has been awarded the Artisjus Prize twice, and in 2005 received the Liszt Prize.

During my years at the Opera House and in addition to contemporary music the tárogató came to mean more to me than I expected. For a long time, its magical sound reminiscent of vocal performances influenced my music selection. The first years were marked with folk songs, students, and Kuruc songs. Then, after the first solo, duo, and trio compositions the quintet, written for a tárogató and a string quartet, rounded out the repertoire. The huge public success of the quintets and trios at our concert in November surprised me. The three orchestral compositions will demonstrate the singing, dancing character, and virtuosity of the instrument.

Our three-part series ends with the joy of playing together in a band. We bid farewell playing our favorite pieces and we hope you will have a memorable experience and we will see you again soon.
